April is here. It’s the month of the NFL Draft and soon all the Kyler Murray speculation will be over. Until then though, there’s still a few opportunities to do some mock drafts – so welcome to the April 1st edition of #MDM. With zero April Fools’ in sight.
Still, the rumours are swirling around and pre-Draft visits are starting to take shape for all teams – plenty including the Cardinals, some of which may have found themselves included in this mock draft. Maybe something can be right?
Anyway, let’s get onto the mock.
1.1 – Kyler Murray, QB, Oklahoma
Another mock draft, another with Kyler Murray going number one. Let it be known, I’m coming round to the idea and if that’s what they think will bring us long-term success under Kliff Kingsbury then what can I do? It’d be nice to see some wins. If Kyler brings wins, then so be it, welcome to our new midget overlord.
2.1 – Hollywood Brown, WR, Oklahoma
If you’re going ALL IN on Kyler Murray, why not bring him his best target from his one-year start in Oklahoma? The speedy Brown will remind many of JJ Nelson with his stick-like frame and lightweight body – but, unlike the aforementioned failure, he might be able to catch the ball and add some more excitement to the Cardinals offence.
3.1 – Kaleb McGary, OT, Washington
Three picks down and three picks on the offensive side of the ball, welcome gifts for Kliff Kingsbury to the NFL. McGary featured in one of our earlier mock drafts and, after a solid showing at the NFL Combine, probably cemented himself into a Day 2 selection. Not necessarily a day one starter for Arizona, but one who will provide depth behind Marcus Gilbert at RT.
4.1 – Trysten Hill, DT, UCF
The defence may not get the addition of a Nick Bosa or a Quinnen Williams, but it most definitely needs some fresh talent from the NFL Draft/UDFA ranks. A mass of humanity, he’d be a big presence on the Cardinals defensive line and probably be an early starter owing to the lack of sufficient other options at the position.
5.1 – Antoine Wesley, WR, Texas Tech
Another addition to the WR group and it’s another name we’ve seen here before. (insert reasoning from previous editions where it was suggested he’d be a good fit for the Cardinals now due to him knowing Kliff Kingsbury’s college offence.)
6.1 – Foster Moreau, TE, LSU
I’m just repeating names here now.
6.7 – Sheldrick Redwine, S, Miami
If he joins the Cardinals and puts on our uniform, would that make him Red Redwine?
7.34 – Shareef Miller, ED, Penn State
He’s another guy I’ve mocked to Arizona before. He’s also visiting to Arizona, so if he’s drafted by the Cardinals then you saw it here first.
7.35 – Kendall Joseph, LB, Clemson
A Clemson defensive player, that’s all I’ve got here.
7.40 – Trace
McSorely, QB, Penn State
Kyler Murray = Mr Relevant.
Trace McSorely = Mr Irrelevant.
Not sure why I chose him here but there was talk of him being requested to do DB drills at the Combine. If he’s not able to stick around at QB, maybe he could be some project in the defensive backfield? Plus, he has an amazing name.
